Pete
Tapley
Lead Instructor
Pete
is without a doubt one of the best alpinists in the area.
His tick list of hard technical routes reads like a novel.
He is the author of many first ascents; and is comfortable leading
traditionally protected routes of WI7, 5.12, M8 – and
above. What makes Pete special to MMA, however, is his
teaching experience: from extended wilderness trips with kids
as far back as 1990 and first guiding as an apprentice in Boulder,
CO in '93, to several years working with special populations
in Vermont. In more recent years he has helped develop
the Bozeman
Climbing
Center's
Outdoor Climbing Program, Private Guided with the likes of Carlos
Buhler, and run a variety specialized clinics for Northern Lights
Trading Company, not to mention taking on Lead Guide responsibilities
for the first six years of what is now the Bozeman Ice Festival.
Pete has also been entrusted to represent outdoor
industry leaders such as Black Diamond and Petzl/Charlet for
years by teaching clinics at various festivals.
Education and Certifications:
Certified
Wilderness First Responder, Level I Avalanche, NOLS Fall Semester
in the Rockies.
