
The 09-10 Junior Mountaineering Team enjoys a day of skiing at Hebgan Lake
The Teen Avalanche Course is an anual event hosted by Montana Mountaineering Association's Junior Mountaineering Team in conjunction with The Friends of the Gallatin National Forest Avalanche Center.

This one-evening class followed by a day in the field is specifically designed for high school students who plan to take their skiing or snowboarding skills into the backcountry.
The course will cover topics such as weather observations, terrain recognition, snow stability tests, emergency and self-rescue procedures and understanding public avalanche bulletins.
Cost per person: $ 20*
Dates: TBA
*Students must provide their own backcountry gear: Beacon, Shovel, Probe, Skis with skins, snowshoes, or splitboard.
*Backcountry skis/boots/skins may be rented at local gear shops*
